What's New in WCOP8 IDE

The changes made/new features added to WCOP8 IDE can be found below:

Changes compared to version 3.06:

  • COP8TAB9 and COP8TAC9 chip types added.

Changes compared to version 3.05:

  • Links changed to match the KKD website.
  • Check for newer version added to the Help menu.
  • "Force repaint" setting added (default false) to the "Environment Settings" dialog. This setting forces the editor to repaint after each action to eliminate a problem on some Win2000/XP PC's. The problem seems to be hardware/driver releated and this setting should only be used if the editor does not update correctly.
  • Small bug fixes.

Changes compared to version 3.04:

  • Kanda COP8FLASH ISP integrated.
  • NiceMon COP8 Flash Debug Monitor integrated.
  • StartIt.exe added.
  • Unis SimCOP8 Simulator integrated.
  • EPU-PM changed to EPU.
  • COP8 ISP Flash Programmer changed to FlashWin.
  • Tutorial help file updated.
  • New upgrade help file added.
  • MetaLink COP8 PM added to the Programming menu.

Changes compared to version 3.03:

  • Small problem connected to detecting assembler result corrected.
  • Multiple assembler include paths are nor allowed, e.g. the following can now be
    specified in "Project Options|Assembler|Include Path"
    "c:\cop8\wcop8\advanex\;c:\temp", which will result in two entries in the .CMD file
    for the assembler.
  • WCOP8 IDE is now prepared for COP8 Library Manager interaction.
  • Windows version information added.

Changes compared to version 3.02:

  • Value option added to the PROMCOP ECON setting.
  • Multiple symbol values can now be defined.
  • New chip types: 8AME, 8ANE
  • A problem when adding several files to a project in Windows 2000 has been solved.
  • The MetaLink Simulator is now by default started with the "-tyimwa6" command line option, i.e. simulates iceMASTER-WA Model 500.
    The simulator configuration file is deleted upon each launch. To disable this function add a setting to the existing "Debug" section in the project file:
    "SimulatorDeleteModfnm=0".
  • Closing of DOS box under Windows 2000 improved.
  • Error messages during start-up improved.
  • If a file is opened that is already open then focus is switched to the already open file.
  • Insert file in project added to interface.
  • Search direction problem fixed.
  • MetaLink EPU renamed to MetaLink EPU-PM.
  • Mark word problem fixed.
  • Focus problem fixed.

Changes compared to version 3.01:

  • WCOP8 IDE now supports Byte Craft COP8C and COP8CWin v. 3.00.

Changes compared to version 3.00F:

  • Support for Byte Craft COP8CWIN Linker version 2.00 or later.
  • The "Save Project As..." feature has been changed to match normal functionality of a "Save As..." function.
  • A problem with auto relaunch of files has been corrected. If a project or a file was moved or deleted since last invocation where WCOP8 IDE had the file open a fault would occur.
  • WCOP8 IDE now remembers the directory that was last browsed after using the debugger tools.
  • Spelling error in the "Edit" menu fixed.
  • Wrong drive letter show when scanning for tools.
  • Chip list updated.
  • JSRB, BRK and RETF instructions added.
  • "Assemble/Compile" button always available if project is open and contains valid files.
  • The project window is now a part of the environment rather than a separate window.
  • The "Save" button now reflects whether the active file has been modified or not.
  • Open and modified assembler files where not identified when doing a "Make".
  • Support for MetaLink DOS tools has been removed.
  • A problem with "Additional Help Files" has been fixed.
  • Support for NSC - COP8 ISP Flash Programmer added.
  • Tools specific help added in "Help" menu for NSDEV and NSEVAL installations.
  • MetaLink tools and the ISP can now be launched when a project isn't open, i.e. if a project is open the project specific tool settings will be used otherwise the default tool settings are used.
  • The position and size of the main window upon closing the application is now restored when the application is re-launched.
  • Support for "-tydm5", "-tyimwa4", "-tyimwa5" and "-tyimwa6" commandline options for the MetaLink Simulator. When started without a project open the "-tyimwa6" commandline option is now used to simulate iceMASTER-WA Model 500.
  • Upon launch of the MetaLink Simulator the configuration file "$modfnm" is now deleted on request of NSC to enable the user to select new settings.
  • COP8 Emulator-DM/AD changed to COP8 Emulator-DM-EM.

Changes compared to version 3.00E:

  • Only dialog layout, i.e. no functional changes.

Changes compared to version 3.00D:

  • The "Show List File" and "Show Map File" menu items are now always available when a project is open. If invoked via pop-up menu from an Editor or Result window the list or map file will be shown directly and if invoked from the View-menu or the Project Manager window a list of available list or map files will be shown.
  • All dialogs can now be closed using the ESC-key.
  • ReadMe.txt updated.

Changes compared to version 3.00C:

  • "Getting Started Tutorial" added.
  • Result window pop-up menu corrected with respect to "Show List File" and "Show Map File".

Changes compared to version 3.00B:

  • Chip list updated.
  • Byte Craft C compiler for Windows no longer selected by default in the "Select Default Tools" and "Select Tools" dialogs.

Changes compared to version 3.00A:

  • More changes made to support large font.

Changes compared to version 2.05A:

  • Support for MetaLink Windows COP8 EPU, Emulator-DM/AD and Simulator in both 16 and 32 bit versions.
  • Small bug fixes.
  • "Splash" and "About" dialog redesigned.
  • Updated help file.
  • Open license for COP8-NSDEV CD and time limited version for COP8-NSEVAL CD.
  • Support for Byte Craft COP8C for Windows (COP8CWin).
  • New select tools wizard to be used when selecting default and project tools. MetaLink Windows debugging tools are now also included as well as Byte Craft COP8CWin for Windows.
  • Hotkey for the "Execute" menu changed.
  • Command line parameter specification for COP8 Simulator type, i.e. COP 400 Emulator, Debug Module (default) or fast COP Debug Module.
  • System performance range adjusted in order to prevent Byte Craft link failure on slow PC's.
  • Include scan problem corrected.
  • Chip list updated.
  • "Assembler/Output Files/Source Debugging" default on when creating a new project.
  • "Linker/Object Module Format" default on, HEX, Nofill.

Changes compared to version 2.05:

  • The "Example" files has been changed on request from NSC. A new directory
    "Examples" with two examples, i.e. "AdvanEx" and "BasicEx" are now generated.
    If and upgrade from a previous version of WCOP8 IDE is performed then the
    original "Example" directory will still exist but this can be deleted if no
    important code has been added to it. Please note that the new examples will
    only assemble with version 4.10 (or later) of the assembler.
  • When a project is opened the tools are now checked and if not specified
    the default tools will be assigned automatically.
  • Vertical scroll bar added to the project information page.
  • The "Assemble/Compile", "Link", "Make" and "Build" button hints corrected.
  • An update problem with the "Assemble/Compile", "Link", "Make" and "Build"
    buttons when scanning for tools from a project has been corrected.
  • The trial version is now registered via a new menu item, i.e. "Register"
    instead of using the SETUP.EXE. This menu item will only appear if the
    WCOP8 IDE software is installed as a trial version.
  • The SETUP.EXE has been changed due to the new registration method mentioned
    above.
  • The "Find" and "Find&Replace" dialogs can now remember the last action.
  • A command that sets a path for the COP8C C compiler so it can find its home
    directory is added. This was necessary in order for COP8C to find its library
    functions etc.
  • Help file changed to reflect the changes mentioned above.

Changes compared to version 2.04:

  • The result window can now be closed by pressing "Space", "ESC" or "Enter".
  • A few spelling errors has been corrected.
  • The floating assembler and C directives windows now doesn't stay on top of other application any more.
  • "Locate Matching Brace" and "Mark Block In Brace" has been added to the pop-up menu for C files.
  • The about and splash dialogs redesigned.
  • The "KKD On The Web" menu item has been changed.
  • Scanning for default and project tools changed due to an error 202 when searching drives with huge capacity and deep directory structures.
  • File/Project search dialog changed for the same reason as above.
  • Locate default and project tools dialog has been change and it is now possible to select whether the tools should be located automatically or manually.
  • Print selection problem has been solved.
  • When making/building a C project the linker is not executed unless an object file was ordered during compilation.
  • Open list file menu item added to the project form pop-up menu.
  • The released version of ByteCrafts C compiler, i.e. 2.00A places the chip specific header files in a "\headers" directory. The "SET INCLUDE" has been changed to point to this subdirectory if it exists otherwise the compiler directory is used (old set-up).
  • C linker include files are now added to the .lnk file with ".." if the file can be found in the source directory otherwise <..> is used.
  • When activating the popup menu's the focus is now shifted as well to avoid an "invalid typecast" message when selecting list or map file.
  • If a C project contained a single C file with the same name as the project then no .COD file was generated - this has now been fixed.
  • If the DOS box is relaunched the startup directory is now chosen as working directory to prevent the C linking from failing.

Changes compared to version 2.03:

  • When double clicking a file that is associated with WCOP8 IDE the file/
    project wasn't launched. The file/project is now launched and the "launch
    last open files" is skipped when clicking an associated file. If WCOP8 IDE
    is launched without a file/project as command line parameter the "launch
    last open files" will work as before.

Changes compared to version 2.02:

  • The "OPTION" command in the .LNK file has been moved to ensure source
    level debugging information in the header files.

Changes compared to version 2.01:

  • The '#include <file>' lines added to the '.LNK' file has been changed to
    '#include "file"' to match BCLINK.
  • An error file was kept open and that has now been changed.
  • Include file list converted to lower case before presentation.
  • The user wasn't prompted to save the file if changes was made to a
    project file when selecting close.

Changes compared to version 2.00:

  • The software has been prepared for commercial launch.
  • A minor problem with the error handling feature has been fixed.
  • The number of file handles available for the entire application has been changed to 60.
  • The set-up program has been changed to handle software registration.
  • The help file has been changed to handle the registration issue.

New features compared to version 1.xx:

  • The WCOP8 IDE tools has been changed to be more project oriented. This means that the assembler, compiler and debugging settings has been removed from the 'Environment Settings' and is now totally related to the project.
  • The Byte Craft COP8C/BCLINK, ver. 2.0, is now supported.
  • Interface towards Aisys DriveWay has been added both for assembler and
    C projects.
  • It is now possible to open and add multiple files.
  • Files can be dragged and dropped from, e.g. Windows Explorer, onto both the workspace and the project window.
  • Project full view has been added.
  • If a C project only contain 1 file and a code file is ordered this file is now given the name of the project to ensure the right file is handed over to the debugging tools.
  • Extensive help functionality has been added.
  • The project pop-up menu has been changed.
  • Files open at termination can now be automatically re-opened.
  • A huge number of small changes has been made.
